The Story Behind The Scarves

At first glance, the Bermuda hibiscus blooms open in a soft mix of pinks, yellows, reds, and whites. The flowers sit together in an easy, natural flow, like a quiet moment in a warm garden. Their open petals and gentle colors bring a feeling of calm and quiet joy. This design began with a clear intention. I wanted to capture the peaceful beauty of the hibiscus and translate it onto silk. I painted each flower on canvas, imagining how the colors and shapes would one day move gently across fabric. Every brushstroke felt grounding a slow, thoughtful process inspired by nature’s softness. Part of this inspiration comes from my own garden. When my children play outside, they often pick up hibiscus flowers that have fallen to the ground and gather them into little bunches to give to me. It’s a simple gesture, but it always fills me with warmth. Those small, sweet moments made the hibiscus feel even more special a symbol of comfort, light, and everyday joy.
When the painting was complete, bringing it from canvas to silk felt natural.

On silk, the hibiscus blooms gained a new softness light, fluid, and gently glowing, like a warm day captured in fabric.
The aRDee Bermuda Hibiscus Scarf is a piece of all these feelings: simple beauty, gentle color, and a touch of island comfort shaped by art and memory.

A personal note

I created this scarf during a time when I needed calm and something bright to hold onto. Painting the hibiscus and thinking of those little bouquets made by my children helped me slow down and feel lighter. My hope is that when you wear it, you feel a bit of that same comfort and warmth, even in the quietest moments.
